Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year with Co404

Holiday Celebrations in Oaxaca

From Thanksgiving on 26 November to brunch on New Year's Day. Stay for the whole season, or the part of it you can. Daily coworking, family dinners and your usual Co404 life carry on in between.

26 November

Thanksgiving Dinner

We're getting everyone around the table for a shared meal, good conversation and a reminder that family doesn't have to mean the people you grew up with. No flying home required. Expect a big feast, a few games, a little gratitude and a chance to get to know your fellow Co404-ers.

1 December

Christmas Tree & House Decorating

It's officially Christmas once the decorations are up. We're getting the whole house involved in turning our Co404 home into a festive wonderland. Expect arts and crafts, questionable decorating decisions and an eclectic shared playlist of everyone's favourite Christmas songs.

12 December

Día de la Virgen de Guadalupe

December 12 is an important day across Mexico, celebrating the Virgin of Guadalupe, affectionately known as the Mother of all Mexicans. We'll take to the streets to see how locals honour their most important Saint.

16–24 December

Las Posadas

Las Posadas celebrates Mary and Joseph's search for somewhere to stay before Jesus was born. Mexicans typically celebrate for nine nights but at Co404, we'll be doing a one-off feast with songs, ponche, piñatas and plenty of festive chaos.

20 December

Christmas Gift Shopping

Time to find gifts for the people who've become your family away from home. We'll hit the local shops together to hunt down presents, pick up some festive bits and pieces, and hopefully avoid leaving everything until the last minute. Thoughtful gifts encouraged; panic-buying absolutely expected.

23 December

Noche de Rábanos

Oaxaca's famous Night of the Radishes sees local artists turn giant radishes into intricate scenes, characters and works of art. Yes, really. It's wonderfully weird, completely unique to Oaxaca, and exactly the sort of thing you won't stumble across at home.

24 December

Christmas Eve Dinner

The big one. We're getting everyone around the table for a Christmas Eve feast, because nobody should have to spend the holidays wondering what to eat or who to call. Expect good food, good company and a reminder that you don't have to fly home to feel at home.

25 December

Secret Santa Gift Exchange

You've shared a house, a kitchen and probably far too many inside jokes. Now it's time to exchange a few gifts and celebrate the little community we've built. No extravagant presents needed. It's the thought that counts (although a practical joke or two is always welcome).

31 December

New Year's Eve

We've got the gang together so it's time to party. We'll be heading out to a local salsa bar or nightclub to sing, dance, have a few too many shots of mezcal and tell our new friends how much we love them as the clock strikes 12.

1 January

New Year's Day

No pressure, no big plans, no need to be anywhere in particular. Ease into the new year with a relaxed brunch with your Co404 people, who we expect to feel a little more like family by this point in the season. Recover, reminisce about last night and start plotting the next adventure.

Coliving in Oaxaca City location

Location

From our rooftop, you'll see the spire of Santo Domingo Church. A 10 minute walk away are the Zócalo and Benito Juárez market, home to some of the best food in Mexico — mole, tlayudas, or even chapulines (if you're brave). Along the way, you'll walk the colourful streets that earned UNESCO heritage status. Zapotec ruins and waterfalls are a short day trip away. Hear fireworks and a band? Probably a calenda, celebrating a wedding. Run down and grab a mezcal — you're invited.

Coworking & Coliving

Fast WiFi and a quiet call booth are the bare minimum. Remote work gets lonely fast. So for us, good coworking spaces are about who's sitting next to you. People to focus with by day, and make plans with in the evenings. Hammock breaks and shared lunches, strongly encouraged.

Co404 is a magical place. They have so many different activities you can choose from (salsa classes, yoga on the roof, family dinners, group hikes, weekend trips and more!), the location is perfect, very central and walkable, and it attracts wonderful people. An amazing gem if nomadic life is calling to you! I will definitely be back in the future.

I spent two weeks at Co404 and had an amazing time! The staff and volunteers are super organized and accommodating to requests. The coworking is set up well with strong wifi and call booths. The excursions, events, and family dinners that the staff organizes was a huge plus! Located in the heart of Oaxaca, you can easily explore centro, or take a short walk to the colorful Jalatlaco. I would definitely stay again!

The only regret I have about staying at Co404 Oaxaca is that I wish I could have stayed longer. The hospitality was warm and accommodating. The location couldn't be better. The co-working space allowed me to do my day job in a relaxed yet professional environment. The room was comfortable. The common space was perfect. There were yoga, dance, cooking and exercise classes offered by the staff, guests and volunteers. And the best part was the people I met there. Everyone was super cool. Will be back.

I've been there twice already and I can't recommend it enough. It's well-located, affordable, comfortable, it has excellent wifi, a big kitchen and efficient working spaces. But, the best thing about this place is the community. They put in great effort so that everyone feels welcome and organise activities to encourage connections. I highly recommend this place for solo travellers or people who are working while they're travelling!

I stayed at Co404 Oaxaca for a month and had a wonderful experience. I met so many great people just hanging out in the kitchen and coworking space. What really makes Co404 special is the community vibe. The manager and volunteers are so lovely and put a lot of effort into organizing activities throughout the week, making it easy to meet other guests and feel at home. Highly recommend if you're looking for a place that's as social as it is comfortable!

This place is absolutely amazing! I stayed here for 6 weeks as a volunteer and loved every moment of it. This was my first experience at a co-working/co-living environment and it exceeded all of my expectations. It was meticulously cleaned every day by an amazing staff. The manager, Ivonne, was available and quick to respond to any and all questions. It was easy to form relationships as most people stayed for 3+ weeks. Family dinners were the highlight of the week.

Absolutely loved Co404. Since the 1st moment I stepped in I felt the most welcome. Great location, great people, and amazing atmosphere. 100% recommend and the rooms were comfy for me too. I booked Co404 for 4 days originally and ended up extending to 1 month. Thanks for everything!

The perfect place on all levels! The location is beautiful and the roof terrace is awesome! The co-working space is very nice, quiet and airy. The team is very involved to concoct a great program every week: dinners, nature outings, visits and discovery of the local culture. I wanted to spend a week there and I finally stayed almost 1 month and a half. Long live the Co404 family!

The way they foster community and fun here while also providing a space to focus and work is unparalleled. Everyone here extends their stay or comes back, which is a testament to how great this place is.

I've done over 15 different co-livings around the world… and Oaxaca is my favorite. I extended my stay. Twice. I literally didn't want to leave.

I decided to come for a three week stay at Co404 Oaxaca after spending a month at the San Cris location and I'm SO glad I decided to extend my trip to stay in Oaxaca! If you're on the fence about staying at Co404, take this as your sign to go for it — once you go, you're part of the family for life.

FAQs

Where can I get groceries?

Our favourite local market is Mercado de la Merced, about a 10 minute walk from Co404. Spend a month here and you'll know the vendors by name, with a fierce loyalty to the one who called you "guapo/a" on your first visit. You can get fresh fruit and veggies, or cheap local meals like tamales and enmoladas, usually with a side of entertainment from a local musician. If you need any staples you can't find there, there's a mini-super called Pitico a 5 minute walk away. Or, big supermarkets like Walmart or Chedraui are accessible by taxi or DiDi delivery.

How do I get to Co404?

If you're flying to Oaxaca City airport, you can get a collectivo or a taxi for less than 200 MXN. If you're arriving by ADO bus, we're a 15 minute walk from the station. If your luggage is too heavy, you can also take a 5 minute taxi for around 60 MXN.

Is there a laundry nearby?

There is a lavandería right around the corner and it will cost you less than 50 MXN per kilo to get your clothes washed and dried. Your clothes will usually be ready within 1 day.

Is there an ATM close by?

There is an ATM less than 1 block away. Many of the larger Mexican banks are only a 10 min walk away. Use Santander or Banorte for the lowest fees.

What is the weather like in Oaxaca?

The weather in Oaxaca is usually hot and dry. In the winter (November to February), daytime temperatures are around 20°C. You'll want a light sweater for the evenings. In the summer (March to May), afternoons are upwards of 30°C. If you're less tolerant of the heat, we recommend booking one of our three air conditioned rooms. But for most people, our ceiling fans are strong enough to help you sleep through the night. Then there's rainy season (June to August) and, honestly, it's one of our favourite times of year. The rain shows up each afternoon with a dramatic downpour and often a bit of thunder, then it stops like clockwork two hours later.
