Co404 is tucked into a quieter corner of this pueblo mágico, which was built for walking — the Jose Tielemans central market is just five minutes away, and the Centro Histórico is an easy fifteen. San Cris is deep in the Chiapas highlands, and the incredible Sumidero Canyon and Chiflon Falls are short day trips away. For immersion into Tzotzil Maya culture, San Juan Chamula's "chicken church" and the village of Zinacantán are only a 20 minute drive away.
Fast WiFi and a quiet call booth are the bare minimum. Remote work gets lonely fast. So for us, good coworking spaces are about who's sitting next to you. People to focus with by day, and make plans with in the evenings. Hammock breaks and shared lunches, strongly encouraged.

Decision fatigue is one of the hardest parts about being a solo digital nomad. We know San Cris like the back of our hands and organise daily activities to show you the best of its culture, nature and history. All you have to do is show up and join us.

MEET THE MANAGER
Niko, from Chile, has been living in Mexico for years and now runs the show in San Cris. He's the kindest person you'll meet — always smiling, always calm, no matter how chaotic the house gets. Ask him about anime; he won't stop talking.
I had an amazing experience. The house itself is beautiful, clean and cozy, the place organizes really nice activities and the vibe there was 10/10. The staff was also wonderful. Highly recommend!
What a wonderful place to stay in San Cris. I initially booked for 1 week, extended it to 2, and if I didn't have plans I'd stay longer. The community is great and I felt welcomed from the first day. People here also actually work during the day, and it's a great place to focus — whether at the desks, conference rooms, or outside in the backyard. There's also weekly activities such as yoga, movie nights, and family dinners. I wouldn't hesitate at all to book a stay here!
Had the absolute BEST time in San Cristobal thanks to Co404! The community is so welcoming, volunteers are always around to help with anything you need, and there's always a good number of social events happening during the week. Rooms were very cozy, I had everything I needed in the shared spaces and coworking to feel at home, and the garden is SO lovely to spend time in. Would 10/10 recommend for anyone looking for a great home base while working & traveling!
This is the best community! Co404 does a really great job at creating a space that is beautiful, great for working, great for building community, and more accessible than most coliving places. I loved my stay in San Cris and already can't wait to come back. Thank you Co404, all the lovely volunteers, and Santi for the best time!
Co404 San Cris adds to the Magic of this Pueblo Magico. Great coworking space with fast, reliable wifi and an amazing garden / terrace to relax hammocking, enjoy campfires and stellar sunsets views after work. Activities hosted by volunteers (morning yoga, mid-day workout, family dinners, food/culture tours, hikes/excursions, etc.) really fosters community and sets this colive experience apart from others. 10/10 would recommend if you're planning a stay in SanCris!
Co404 is the best coworking coliving hostel for a digital nomad. I have lived in both the Agave and main location in San Cristobal and stayed there for 3 months. The internet is great, cool interior design, rooms, garden, co work office, the staff is amazing, that is probably their biggest gift, choosing the right volunteers, who are warm, loving. I really enjoyed the activities like cooking classes, trips, concerts, the many restaurants and … of course the people I met.
My girlfriend and I lived at Co404 while in San Cristobal, travelling as digital nomads. We were some of the first people to stay there but we were met with such a nice reception. We had an awesome little family for a month and it was excellent! WiFi was fast, kitchen was good and rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. We will be back!! You must stay here!
When you enter Co404 in San Cris, you become part of a family. Everything works well, the coworking space, the common spaces, the rooms. But it is the atmosphere that makes it unique. The garden where we have bonfire nights. The rooftop where we play cards. The family dinners. I've never walked into a new place and felt more welcome. And the city also gets to your heart.
As a digital nomad who spent an incredible 10 months and 10 days at Co404, I feel obliged to share my experience. The mix of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and stories around every corner made every day an adventure. Santi really makes an excellent job finding the best of the best — we shared meals, stories, and countless laughs.
I stayed here for a month, the best few weeks of my Mexican adventure. The garden is simply amazing. Lovely views on the terrace, a hammock, afternoon yoga, hummingbirds and butterflies. But the real magic is done by the manager, Santi, and the volunteers. I don't think I ever cried when leaving a hostel. This time I did.
As a solo traveller and remote worker, Co404 San Cris has offered such a beautiful change of pace. You get access to all the amenities a remote worker is looking for, a beautiful garden and terrace, but also warmth and a feeling of community.

The easiest way to get to San Cristóbal de las Casas is to fly into Tuxtla, the nearest big city with an airport. From the airport you can either take a taxi for 800–900 MXN (and you'll usually find some other travellers to split it with!). Or take an ADO/OCC shuttle bus for 250 MXN, then a taxi for 40 MXN from bus station.
There is a lavandería around the corner that does same or next day pick-up, or they can even deliver your laundry back to Co404. It will cost you 10 pesos/kg to get your laundry washed, dried, pressed and delivered.
We are only 5 minutes away from the local fruits and veggies market of San Cristóbal de las Casas. If you don't go there for your daily groceries, you at least have to visit once to experience the hustle and bustle of this colourful market. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there's an organic market only a 10 min walk away for the best quality produce. Walmart, Chedraui or Bodega Aurrera are all a 10 minute (40 MXN) taxi ride away and Walmart also has an online delivery service that brings your groceries to our door for 40 MXN.
There are a couple of banks around the central squares in San Cristóbal that are about a 10 minute walk from Co404. For the best ones that don't charge big fees, use Santander and Banorte.
San Cristóbal has a very mild climate and is a nice break from the hot and humid tropical climate of most of Mexico because of its elevation. This town is located at 2000m above sea level which gives it nice daytime temperatures of around 20 degrees year round. At night it cools down even in summer and the temperature drops to around 10 degrees, ideal for a bonfire. June to November is considered the "rainy season" but it usually only rains for an hour or so and is actually incredibly relaxing.
